Summary of project

The project will focus on using mathematical modelling of genetic oscillators to engineer gene networks with targeted behavior. The student will improve our methodology for automatic computational design of genetic oscillators, which will allow the engineering of tunable and robust genetic devices. He will implement them in E. coli and he will characterize them utilising a nano-chemostat device, also developed by the student. He will use the data obtained this way to create and fine-tune a concise mathematical model of the mechanism of genetic oscillations.
